When To Use 9-1-1

Use it to report a crime, a fire, a heart attack, a serious injury or any situation requiring the immediate response of a fire truck, police car or ambulance.

What the 9-1-1 Operator Will Need To Know

1.  The phone number from where you are at.
2.  The address where you are.
3.  The nature of the problem.

IMPORTANT: Call 9-1-1 first in all emergency situations.

What the 9-1-1 Operator Will Tell You To Do

1.  Stay on the phone.  Don't hang up.  The 9-1-1 operator will transfer you to the appropriate emergency response agency.  SPEAK CLEARLY!

Do Not Call 9-1-1 For:

1.  Road/travel/weather information or for household repairs, minor complaints such as excessive noise, littering, legal advice, loose pets, etc.

Crestwood's non-emergency telephone is 385-5131

Note:  If you accidentally dial 9-1-1 do not hang up!  Tell the operator.  Failure to do so will result in needless dispatch of emergency personnel.
